Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk

Trumpeter's F-117A is an absolutely simple kit: the model can be completed in just two steps. Nevertheless, both the shape and surface textures are very close to the original - certainly far better than the (much older) Revell kit.

The Nighthawk can be built with either the landing gear retracted or extended. It's also possible to display the bomb bay open and install two laser-guided bombs. A proper cockpit with instruments is missing, though curiously, a seated pilot figure is included. Trumpeter's choice of decal colors is no less strange: all markings, which are normally painted in Insignia White, are printed in turquoise on the decal sheet. I've never seen markings in this color on any F-117A, so I decided to apply the Revell Nighthawk decals, even though they aren't entirely accurate either (the color of the cockades is inverted).
